Nesjavellir.Our first stop as we began our ring road tour was the geothermal plant at Nesjavellir. An amazingly efficient system transmits hot water, insulated in "rock wool" insulation. The picture on the left is one of those that probably needs an explanation, huh? Built right in the rift of the mid-Atlantic ridge, the power plant is actually expanding... and so here is Scott straddling the Eurasian plate on one side, the North Atlantic on the other.
